In my bachelor’s thesis ABBA DABBA SIRGU LA (Novia University of Applied Sciences, Jakobstad, FI, 2018-2022) I approached topics such as religious conviction, existentialism and dadaism by using an autoetnographic method as my starting point.

In the visual part I've been using collage and nonsense verse (in swedish) to describe possible forms of a God. My intention is in many ways to release the concept of God and let God exist beyond a certain explanation or understanding. At the same time I recapture my own approach and interpretation. The visual part was in the bachelor’s exhibition presented as framed works consisting of both texts and images.

In the thesis I have chosen to process my conservative christian roots and my first meeting with the existential questions in life. I discuss what features the modernist art and literature genre dada can have on the basis of these subjects. I also deal with having to reappraise the facts and answers which were given to me as a child, and reflect on how art can relate to spirituality.

While the visual part and the poetry delivers absurd answers much like a conveyer belt, the thesis is more about asking the questions without necessarily demanding a right answer.
