Suoidnekaboom is a cross-disciplinary work where material from a Sámi everyday context is explored through the human body, its psychosomatics, and interpersonal relationships. The work is experienced through a 60-minute performance, as an ongoing performative installation, and as a visual exhibition. Suoidnekaboom highlights how small communities and minorities are often in a position of dependency on the majority society, both materially and immaterially. The work aims to encourage the audience to reflect on how prolonged collective and individual stress impacts the human being's complex inner landscape, as well as their relationship to themselves and to others. The work was orginally made as a part of Sámi Artist Network Dáiddadállus 10 year anniversary.
Artistic leader visual artist: Maret Anne Sara (Sápmi, NO). Choreographer: Alexandra Wingate (SE). Co-creators and stage performers: Anitta Suikkari (FI/NO), Anja Saiva Bongo Bjørnstad (Sápmi, NO) and Li Taiga. The work premiered 2024 in Sámi Easter Festival in Guovdageaidnu (NO) and in Sami Centre for Contemporary Art in Karasjok (NO).
